Froggy...annoys me greatly. My favorite part was when he got hit on the head with a coconut. Although, I did like the turtles, because all this past summer I've been rather fond of turtles. =)

Before reading the story, I had my students to imagine what a trip to Hawaii would be like. My class really enjoyed this story mainly because of the sound effects and the "FROOGGGYYYYY". I used this story to introduce Maps. We were looking at the different places across the world and I asked the students to choose a place that they would like to visit. I purposely chose Hawaii. The illustrations were very bright and colorful. Although Froggys' parents were not as excited as he was, he still enjoyed the trip. The class thought it was soooo funny when Froggy had to swim in his underwear because he had forgotten his swimming trunks.
As a teacher, I would use this story to teach students how to use imagery. Imaging is something all readers do without evening noticing. Usually the author will write a book for you to visualize, feel and hear the events that happen within the story. The purpose is for students to be able imagine the story. I would read the story and allow students to visualize what I am reading without showing the illustrations. While I am reading, I will stop to let students share and discuss before proceeding with the story. Students will share with a partner what images they saw while I was reading. After the class has demonstrated the use of imagery, I will read the story a second time and show the illustrations. This time the story will be read with fluency.

My 5-year-old loves the "Froggy" series. As a parent, I don't always like the examples Froggy sets but it's a good time for me and my child to talk about the right things to do in the situation.
My child loved when Froggy got into the car in his PJ's because he was so excited he forgot to get dressed and he went snorkeling in his underwear because he forgot his bathing suit (even though his mom reminded him). I didn't like that he was allowed to flop everywhere at the airport and on the plane (rather than being told to behave).

A sweet, nostalgic return to a beloved character in a new (for me) story... I remember reading about Froggy's adventures with my daughters and laughing out loud. The charm is still there!

Froggy and his family went on vacation to Hawaii. Throughout the story, Froggy is pretty clumsy. For example, he fell on his face at the airport and got knocked on his head by a coconut. I like this story because I think the students would enjoy it. I also really like how the book has a lot of dialogue. I would read it to my class and discuss how dialogue is used in the book. The book would be a model for my students on how they should use dialogue in their own writing.

My first grade son LOVES the Froggy books. His little sister loved this one too but my eight-year-old daughter wasn’t a fan. My kids always laugh with Frrrrroooooggggy and his obligatory response “Whaaaaatttt?” They laughed when he has a “wipeout” and when his dad tells him not to be a nincompoop. This is just a typical story in this series.

Froggy proves again to be annoying and in a story that sees them go to Hawaii, which could be a short or a long way from wherever they reside, which we know is somewhere where there is snow.
Anyway it seems strange that someone who is so young is not assisted in packing his luggage by his parents.

Actually pretty cute. You can tell it’s an older book because the dad calls the son a nincompoop which is very 90’s in my opinion. Would recommend!

Froggy was so excited to be going to Hawaii that he forgot some important things to pack. While in Hawaii he made problems for himself which was his usual. It made for a memorable vacation.

Froggy Goes to Hawaii is a fun installment in the Froggy series. Froggy and his family are headed on vacation to the island of Hawaii. Naturally Froggy wants to do it all, surf, hula, swim, but of course with Froggy things don’t always go as planned.

In the entertaining adventure, Froggy Goes to Hawaii, a small frog uncovers the importance of patience, as well as how to relax and have fun. Froggy and his family are heading off to Hawaii and in the anticipation of going, Froggy forgets all of his vacation gear, even a swimsuit. While he realizes once he gets to Hawaii that he probably should have remained patient and stayed calm in order to have a better time once he actually got to Hawaii. However, through appreciating culture and embracing the moment, Froggy and his family have a great time while on vacation. His dad even takes the advice of Froggy and jumps into the water, only to realize he might need a vacation from his vacation. The book has a two-fold theme, teaching readers that it’s better to take the time to prepare for things like a vacation than to get caught up in excitement, as well as how great it can be to enjoy a new place with family. This series of books is so whimsical and relatable to kids, plus it has hidden humor for the parents and adults reading too. I love the nature of the parent child relationship between the characters, as it reminds me a great deal of my own. I would give this book 3 out of 5 stars for its humor and storyline.

Review: I really enjoyed this book because it was fun and event-filled. Especially since the main character is a frog and he does things that a human is capable of doing (such as surfing). First graders would love this book due to the fact that it's designed to open up your mind to other roles that animals can play other than just being animals.

We have read several of the Froggy books by Jonathan London and Frank Remkiewicz, but until I looked on Goodreads, I had no idea just how many of them there are. We enjoy these stories and the familiar refrain of "Frrooggy!" followed by "Wha-a-a-a-t?" is always fun to read aloud together. We loved that this story has a Hawaiian theme and the typical tropical background scenes made us smile. Another fun book.

Wonderful Pictures and a Wonderful Story. Froggy and his family is getting ready to go on vacation to Hawaii. When mom wakes Froggie up he is having difficulty settling down. He is told to pack and reminded to pack his swimsuit. He packs his toy plane, boat and his ukelele into his bag and runs outside in his pajamas. Once dressed they head off to the airport where we see he is still hyper. He has difficulty waiting in line, waiting to get there and thinking what he is doing before he does it. Froggie and his family have a lot of adventure on their vacation. Read the book to see what type of adventures he has. I read this book on the site "wegivebooks.org

PB 10: I had read one of these books when I was younger and LOVED them. Froggy was always so loud and obnoxious. Also, Froggy is quite the klutz. He always almost gets lost or hurt and he has such a forgetful mind. Much like children seem to all have some sort of ADD, Froggy does too but that’s because he’s young and curious. I feel as if I was able to relate to Froggy a lot and I know other children can too!

October 23, 2012What a fun book this was. Froggy is like a typical child on vacation, full of excitement with the desire to explore. Even though froggy's father told him to be more relaxed, froggy could not sit still, he just had to explore everything. The text was so fun to read because of the ''sound effects'' that you can make while reading. The pictures was bright and very colorfull, and my attention was drawn to the beautiful pictures.

I chose this book because I enjoy picture books with animal characters. This is a cute book that contains a main character that is a frog, that would be fun for little kids. His family will go on vacation to Hawaii and froggy will cause trouble for his parents by not bringing his swimsuit and doing crazy things. His parents will say they need another vacation! There is very good illustration that gets the readers attention.
