Dear Raising A Reader Network,
Today’s Affiliate Communication is a short recap of last Friday’s Town Hall, an invitation to our Family Shared Reading Program Webinar, and a message from the Campaign for Grade Level Reading.
Our latest Town Hall featured Mikaela Houghton, RAR’s Manager of Affiliate Growth and Development, sharing information on funding sources and grant language. Through an unfortunate error, the Town Hall was not recorded. However, Mikaela is willing and able to consult with all Affiliates who would like to know more about using available funds to sustain or expand your programs. Also, because Mikaela’s talking points were closely aligned to the slides she provided, you will find a wealth of information in the October 30 Town Hall Slide Deck. You can reach Mikaela at mhoughton@raisingareader.org.
Don’t forget to register for our upcoming Town Halls. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from the Affiliate Network and hear ideas that will inspire your efforts to engage families. Register here for the Town Hall meetings through December.
On next Tuesday, November 10, RAR will present an informative webinar on our exciting new program! Join us and invite other colleagues and organizations whose families would benefit from this innovative way to increase home libraries, enhance home-school connections and keep the literacy routines going in their communities. Click here to register for the webinar.
Refer a colleague, friend or associate and receive a set of 5 books from Barefoot Books! To receive your free books, the referred registrant must list your name on their registration form AND attend the webinar.
Campaign for Grade Level Reading Webinar
Ralph Smith, Managing Director, shares a wonderful reflection on the historic moment we are experiencing and an opportunity to attend a discussion on how the results of the election may impact our children. RAR will be attending this Roundtable. We hope you will too.
"More than 93 million Americans had already cast a ballot as of November 1, suggesting that the 2020 elections may achieve historic levels of voter participation. Two states — Hawaii and Texas — have already surpassed their 2016 totals with several other states approaching that threshold. The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading is heartened to see such strong engagement in the electoral process and is taking a break from our weekly webinars [on] Election Day to encourage those in our network to make their voices heard by voting."
We hope that you will make plans to join CGLR Managing Director Ralph Smith and other leading experts on early learning, technology and educational equity in a special Post-Election Noggin U Roundtable. Moderated by award-winning journalist and former New York Times reporter Lisa Guernsey, the panelists will offer their thoughts on what the elections’ results might mean for children.
